Safety is the foundation of every lesson at Wild Heart Riding School. Horses are big, powerful animals, but with the right precautions and respect, riding is a safe and rewarding activity for children. Here’s how we keep every rider safe:
Every child must wear a properly fitted, certified riding helmet. We provide helmets in a range of sizes and ensure each one is adjusted for a snug, comfortable fit. Helmets protect against head injuries and are non-negotiable for all riders.
Our instructors are experienced, patient, and trained in both horsemanship and child safety. They know how to read both horses and children, and are always ready to step in if a rider needs extra support.
Not all horses are suitable for beginners, especially children. Our lesson horses are selected for their calm temperament, reliability, and experience with young riders. They’re used to the sounds and movements of kids, and are handled with kindness and respect.
Lessons take place in enclosed arenas or on safe, well-maintained trails. We check all equipment before each lesson and keep the riding environment free of hazards.
Children are never left alone with horses. Instructors and assistants are always present, whether your child is riding, grooming, or simply walking near the horses.
We teach every child the “barn rules” from day one:
Our staff is trained in first aid and emergency procedures. We have safety equipment on hand and clear plans for any situation. By making safety a priority, we ensure that every child can focus on learning, growing, and having fun.
