At WildHeart Riding School, we run things a little differently. Before a lesson even begins, weâre already thinking about the horseâand the rider. Their health, mindset, energy, and progress matter equally. Because weâre not in the business of just âgetting throughâ lessonsâweâre building partnerships that last.
Before a horse is tacked up, we check in. Are they moving comfortably? Are they alert and engaged? Any signs of soreness, tension, or fatigue? If the answer isnât a confident yes, the horse doesnât work that day. Full stop.
We never push a horse whoâs off. That small decision makes all the differenceâfor the horseâs long-term health and the riderâs safety and confidence.
Our horses are not lesson machines. They are living beings with moods, preferences, and physical needs. Thatâs why our instructors take time before every ride to make sure the horse is mentally ready, too.
Some horses need a longer warm-up. Some need quiet hands. Others may need a different saddle, or a break after a tough ride earlier in the day. And we adjust for thatâevery single time.
Weâve rescheduled lessons because a horse had a slight swelling. Weâve swapped mounts mid-lesson because a horse didnât feel 100% right. Weâve even cancelled entire classes if the weather or conditions werenât right.
Why? Because forcing a lesson when a horse isnât at their best doesnât just affect themâit affects the rider, too. Trust and progress canât be built on discomfort. Our riders come to learn, not to struggle through.
You may not always ride the same horse. Thatâs not randomâitâs intentional. Itâs because we know what your horse needs today and what you need to work on. That flexibility creates better results and a more enjoyable experience.
Parents often ask, âWhy was my child on a different horse this week?â The answer is simple: because we made a choice that kept both horse and rider progressing safely and happily.
Taking a few extra minutes before a ride might not seem like a big deal. But over time, that care builds something powerfulâtrust.
When our riders know theyâre on a horse that feels good, thatâs been warmed up properly, thatâs matched to their level that dayâthey ride with more confidence. They learn faster. They enjoy it more.
Itâs easy to throw tack on a horse and stick a kid in the saddle. But thatâs not what we do. We think long-term. We care about the whole picture. We ask questions. We pay attention. And we do it because we know that how a lesson starts determines how it ends.
At WildHeart, horse and rider come firstâtogether. Before every lesson. During every ride. After every dismount.
